BY ONE POINT, IN THE LAST SECONDS

What a game last night.

Stetson’s first game of the conference season this year against The University of North Florida. Two evenly matched teams played a great game.

The score went back and forth, sometimes up by ten, sometimes down by ten, as in the last minutes of the second half. Great defense. Dunks. Three-pointers. Layups. An all-around fun game.

And it came down to the last seconds, primarily on Stetson’s defense. And a win, by one point.

I realized again that both offense and defense are important in basketball or football or tennis or in the game of life. Sometimes we have to stop the other team from scoring. Sometimes we have to put points on the board.

And perseverence, too, even when down. Wouldn’t you agree?
