God Sees

GOD SEES

What a wonderful and scary truth.

God has many “names” in Scripture, such as: Elohim, YHWH, El, El Shaddai, and Adonai.

“El Roy” – another of the names for God in the Bible is not used very often. Translated from the Hebrew to English, it means God sees.

HOW SCARY. This means ultimately that nothing is hidden from God. God sees everything, everything we are doing, even in the dark, even when no one else sees. This means God knows.

We can’t pull anything over on God, like we did with our parents, or do with our friends. Unlike Facebook posts, God doesn’t just see the good stuff. God sees it all. Now, that is a bit scary to realize.

HOW WONDERFUL. Even when we are all alone, lost in sadness or overcome by life, God notices. Even more, God sees, God knows. Even when we have abandoned God, God hasn’t abandoned us. God notices. God sees. Take comfort in this truth, even when you don’t feel it.

I just this morning, in my reading through the Bible, this name for God, first used in Genesis 16, jumped out for me. It spoke to me. Perhaps it will speak to you.
