I WAS IN JUNIOR HIGH
It was one of those days, something like Pearl Harbor Day was for my parents. I was in junior high and sitting on a bench during a break, when the Principal came over the loudspeakers and told us all that “Kennedy has been shot.”
Even as young teenagers, it took our breath away. Several of my classmates started crying. The news gripped our school.
Where were you? What were you doing? You may not be old enough to remember. This was the 1960s the first of three assassinations that gripped by generation – JFK, MLK, and RFK.
I was given 25 extra newspapers that afternoon after school and was told to yell the classic “Read all about it. President Kennedy has been killed” as I rode my paper route. I sold every single paper that day.
Some world events, including some we are living these days, shape our lives, don’t they?
