STEADFAST JOY, DISCOVER IT
In the search for a happy life, you and I often mix up “happiness” and “joy.”
Happiness is a temporary feeling, coming from outside things like success or relationships.
On the flip side, joy comes from inside and isn’t tied to what’s happening around us. It’s a deep feeling of happiness even when things are tough. Joy is something inside, ultimately arising from God’s work in our lives.
Think of happiness like ripples on a pond, changing with the weather. Joy is like a steady current below, always there and strong.
Here is a text we don’t often read. Notice the circumstances. Also, notice the little word “yet”
Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.
– Habakkuk 3:17-18
Friends, during this season, discover the joy that is steady below, always there, because of God our Savior.
